Graduate Studies Program to Launch in Fall 2020 with Opening of New Building

NEW YORK—The Juilliard School in New York City announces the resident faculty for The Tianjin Juilliard School and that applications for the Saturday Pre-College program for young musicians ages 8 to 18 are now open. The school’s Graduate Studies programs, partnering with The Tianjin Conservatory of Music, all uniquely focused on collaborative musicianship, will launch in fall 2020, coinciding with the official opening of the new building.

The resident faculty members of The Tianjin Juilliard School have played in the world’s top symphony orchestras, have taught at prestigious conservatories, and won awards as soloists and chamber musicians. Members of the resident faculty at The Tianjin Juilliard School include Lee Allen(trombone), Niccolo Athens (Pre-College composition, ear training), Audrey Axinn (ensemble coach, graduate studies), Scott Bell (oboe), Joel Brennan (trumpet), Sheila Browne (viola, chamber music), Julia Glenn (Pre-College violin, music theory), Wei He (violin, chamber music), Gergely Ittzés (flute), Yeonjin Kim (cello, chamber music), Kyunghee Kim-Sutre (Pre-College harp, ensemble coach), Tomomi Kondo-Brennan (Pre-College ensemble coach), Anne Leilehua Lanzilotti (new music ensemble, music history, ensemble coach), Yiwen Shen (new music ensemble, music theory), Allie Su (collaborative pianist, Pre-College ensemble coach), Guillaume Sutre (violin, chamber music), Mike Truesdell (percussion), Xiaohan Wang (Pre-College piano, chamber music), Daxun Zhang (double bass), Xiangyu Zhou (clarinet), and Alvin Zhu (Pre-College piano, music history). For complete faculty bios, please visit tianjin.juilliard.edu/faculty. Resident faculty members will be presenting concerts, master classes, and recitals worldwide.

The Tianjin Juilliard School’s Pre-College program offers a comprehensive, conservatory-style music program for students ages 8-18 who exhibit the talent and potential to pursue serious music study. Pre-College students work with the school’s dedicated, world-class faculty and will be given ample opportunities to perform in solo, chamber, and orchestral concerts. The application for Pre-College studies at The Tianjin Juilliard School is now available at tianjin.juilliard.edu.

In the fall of 2020, The Tianjin Juilliard School, partnering with The Tianjin Conservatory of Music, will offer U.S.-accredited Master of Music degrees in orchestral studies, chamber music, and collaborative piano, pending approval by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. Admission to Graduate Studies will be based on a competitive application and audition process.
